Chili Cook-Off 2013

They Are Keeping Things Heated Up at the Historic Crown King Saloon!

Saturday, October 5th, The 29th Annual Fall Chili Cook-Off was hosted by the Crown King Saloon. This year the entries were exceptional and the crowd was fired up! Judging this year’s chili contestants was harder than ever. Thanks to all the Chili Cook-Off participants for sharing your cherished chili with us. Thanks also goes out to all the ‘Tasters’ who paid to taste-test & vote for the coveted “People’s Choice” Award. We hope everyone had a great time and will plan on coming back to CK for the Spring Chili Cook-off next year. As always,  our little town appreciates all of you for your continued support!

  1. Love the cook-offs. Been a frequent offender for many years. Me and the club decided not to participate in any more with the recent massive entry fee hike and beer limit (4 beers? really?) I miss you Mike. It’s truly shameful and I have talked to so many who feel the same way (even the locals). But I will still visit regardless as there are plenty of other price-friendly fun-filled events. Love U CK.!!

  2. At first my wife & I thought the 4 beer limit was a horrible idea. To be honest it didn’t matter we didn’t drink more than four anyhow, neither did our friends. After thinking about it if you have to drink more than four, then you may be there for the wrong reasons. Besides you can go inside and purchase what you like. There were less contestants this year. I have to believe maybe it was due to no fire pit this year. A lot of people would use that as their heating source. Next year people will come prepared.
I met my wife at the CK Fall Chili Cookoff and proposed to her there. We’ve been going many years (13 years). We never miss it!

  3. How does one sign up for the cook off? A friend of mine would like to enter her chili 🙂 thanks!

    1. Hi Alli, Here is what the CK Saloon requires to enter chili: Entries will be accepted starting at 10:00-11:30am, Judging begins at noon. Participants will receive one free entry when they bring TWO Gallons of chili. The entry fee for tasters is $20, includes beverage cup for four beers and chili samplings. So glad you are planning to come. The spring chili cookoff is April 12, 2014. See you there! Carol B
