Crown King Historical Museum Has A New Location

The Crown King Historical Society was established in 2005. A few years later the owners of the General Store, Carol and Ben Boles, offered an old brick garage on the side yard of the store to use for a new museum. With the help of the local volunteer workforce, the 1st CKHS Museum was a reality. Over the years the museum hosted hundreds of visitors and shared the rich history of Crown King and the Southern Bradshaws. When Carol and Ben sold the store to Sandy & Gerry in 2013 they continued to offer the building at no cost to CKHS. The Historical Society appreciates the generosity of the store owners over the past years. The USFS offered CK Historical Society a historic home to use for their new museum. The above photo is the new home of the CKHS Museum. It was built in the 1930’s by the Civilian Conservation Corps as the residence for the Forest Ranger. Now is serves as the new home for CKHS. The museum opened for a ‘sneak peek’ on Saturday, May 23rd. The museum will be open every weekend from 11:00 till 3:00. Plan to stop by and check on the upcoming displays.
