Crown King welcomed the 27th Annual Phoenix Jaycees Comancheros Pony Express to town on Thursday, July 2nd. The annual charity ride is a favorite event here in Crown King. The Comancheros stop over in Crown King on their way to the Prescott Rodeo. After picking up the commemorative letters from the owner of the General Store, Sandy Baker, they rode off to the Saloon for a cold beer. Dan Cole, the Trail Boss, and his two riders were greeted with cheers as they rode their horses into the Historic Crown King Saloon. One of the horses named Reba enjoyed a cold beer as well! The riders then went off to tend to their horses while the locals made final preparations for the Annual Pony Express Potluck hosted by the CK Chamber of Commerce.
The new owners of the Bear Creek Cabins, John and Barbara Dodd, opened their facility to the entire town for this year’s event. The weather was perfect, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was festive.
Thanks to all the riders and support teams for the Pony Express. We hope you had as much fun as we did!
