CKFD Annual Slash Clean Up 2015

Crown King Slash Clean Up 2015
Crown King Slash Clean Up 2015

The Crown King Fire Dept hosted the Annual Slash Clean Up on June 13th, 2015 to help reduce fuels and reduce the danger of forest fire. The US Forest Service personnel as well as the Americorps teams offer their services for this event. Local business owners, residents and cabin owners also volunteered their labor, trucks, trailers & tractors to help clear the brush piles. The slash was taken to a staging area and then loaded on to dump trucks and transported to the Slash Pile a short distance from town. Homeowners were encouraged to clear the brush around their cabins and leave it in piles along their streets. The large crews of volunteers worked nearly 5 hours to clean up piles and transport the debris.
To show their appreciation, the CKFD hosted a BBQ potluck after the Clean Up. There was plenty of great food and good cheer! Thanks to Myla and Jeremiah Carter for taking over the cooking operations at the BBQ. They did a fabulous job. Many thanks to the ladies who volunteered at the potluck and to those who donated food. The CKFD works hard to keep our mountain safe and they appreciate the continued support of the Crown King community.
