Chief Lombardo and his crew are offering the community an opportunity to remember one of Crown King Fire Dept former crew members, Anthony Rose, who served with CKFD 2008 through 2012. This will be a time to share photos and memories of Anthony during his time in Crown King. The entire community of Crown King mourns the loss of our friend Anthony Rose, along with the 18 other members of the Granite Mountain Hot Shots who perished in Yarnell. Please plan to attend and celebrate Anthony’s life & as well as all the brave men who were tragically lost. The CKFD will provide bratworst, please bring a side dish & drinks. There will be a donation jar if you would like to donate to Anthony’s family.
Our hearts go out to the CKFD crew and the Prescott National Forest Crew who live & work in Crown King. We truly appreciate all of you and are very sorry for your loss. Thank you for everything you do for Crown King.
THE PONY EXPRESS RIDES TO TOWN !
The Phoenix Jaycees Comancheros Pony Express arrived ‘dusty and thirsty’ in Crown King after a long ride from Phoenix. Every year the Comancheros ride from Phoenix to Prescott to raise funds for Charity. After a quick stop in Cleator, the riders traveled up to 6,000 elevation and enjoyed a cold beer at the Crown King Saloon. As tradition holds, the last horses ride directly into the saloon for a cold one. In fact, one of the horses named Reba enjoys a cold beer too! The other horse, Wynonna, did not partake in beer drinking! Comanchero Dan Cole, a ten year veteran of the Pony Express Ride, collected the commemorative letters from the Crown King General Store’s Post Office. His horse was very sweet and didn’t seem to mind all the attention she was getting. Thanks to the Comancheros for all you do for the community through your charities. Crown King loves it when you ride to our town!! Happy 4th of July Weekend to everyone from the Crown King General Store.
